NEW PLAYGROUND AT THE GREATER SPORTS GROUND

The Quairading and Districts Sport and Recreation Council have had two special
 meetings to discuss the concept of a new playground and grass area at the Greater Sports Ground.

Council fully support the concept plan as outlined below and demonstrated in the following
 diagram, with the project to be listed for inclusion in the 2008/09 Draft Budget.

The concept of a new playground and lawn area at the greater Sports Ground will include the following project scope:-

a) The playground be sited approximately 3 metres North East of the Football Changeroom patio to provide line of sight from the Community Building whilst minimising intrusion to spectator viewing of the Oval;

b) Provision of paved /even surface from the Visitor’s Changeroom to the new lawn area;

c) Playground / barrier fencing be installed around playground and to Netball Court fence to provide safe carriageway for pedestrians. Sufficient gates to be provided to enable access;

d) Extension of new lawn area to 3 metres beyond Football Changeroom patio and on the Oval side of the new playground;

e) Existing playground equipment and fencing be dismantled and disposed of by sale;

f) Removal of three (3) existing trees on the grounds of risk management and future  maintenance issues;

g) The access gate to Netball Courts 3 & 4 be relocated to the South Western of Court 3.

h) Improved lighting in the project area

i) Playground to have Shade Shelter.

Council are asking for Public Comment on the plan to be directed to the Shire Office or Community Development Officer by 15th December.
