Keeping & Management Of Dogs
The Department of Local Government and Regional Development maintains a website that provides a broad range of information that is easily accessible, about the keeping of pet dogs.
It includes information on their care; the responsibilities of owners; training and socialisation; behaviour around dogs; legislative requirements, including registration, confinement and control; community contacts; behavioural problems such as nuisance barking, and a number of other matters.
In addition to the above, the Department has also produced two brochures relating to the management and control of dogs and behaviour around dogs.
The brochure: Laws for Responsible Dog Owners is a reprint of an earlier version. The brochure: Dogs are Fun — Playing it Safe is a new publication aimed at providing school children with tips on staying safe around dogs.
If you require further information on the above brochures please contact the Department of Local Government & Regional Development on 08 9217 1591.
Damian Priest is the local Animal Welfare Inspector, gazetted under the Department of Local Government & Regional Development (Inspector No 252).
