2023 Election Information

Ordinary local government elections are held every two years, on the third Saturday in October.

Election Day is Saturday, 21 October 2023.

Nominations for Council open on Thursday 31 August 2023 and close of Nominations are Thursday 7th September 2023 4.00pm. The Returning Officer can not accept nominations after this time.

Close of electoral role is Friday 24th August 2023 5.00pm. You must be on the electoral role for Quairading to be eligible to vote or nominate for Council in the Quairading local government elections.

The 2023 elections for the Shire of Quairading will be conducted as a postal election by the WA Electoral Commission.

Seven vacancies will be open at this election.

The Shire of Quairading Council strongly encourage members of the community to take interest in their local government and stand for Council.

Alternatively, Interested parties are welcome to speak to the CEO, Executive Officer or a current Elected Member of Council to understand the role of a Councillor in the community.

In order to stand for election as an Elected Member, you must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older;
  • Be an elector of the Shire of Quairading;
  • Not be nominating as a candidate in another election; and
  • Have completed the mandatory online induction course.
